Daddy’s dream gift up for auction
DVLA Personalised Registrations’ June 3 auction is perfectly timed for anyone searching for the ideal Father’s Day present.DAD 4S, arguably one of the finest “daddy”-related plates still available from the DVLA, will go under the hammer with a reserve of just £400 during the first of the three-day event, allowing just enough time for the paperwork to be processed allowing the winner to place it on the car of their choice in time for Sunday, June 21.
In total, 1,600 personalised plates will be up for sale during the auction being staged at Wychwood Park in Crewe. While DAD 4S is a great opportunity for a father’s Day gift, 3 O will arguably be the “star” plate – especially if the two auctions of 2009 are anything to go by with 1 O and 2 O being sold to investors for £210,242 and £142,249 respectively.
Though the catalogue features a large number of plates with reserves from a little as £350, DVLA’s auctioneers are bracing themselves for a possible bidding “war” over 7 T and has set a £10,000 reserve to support its value. However, it is not expected to topple the staggering £352,411 a Lebanese businessman paid for 1 D at its Warwickshire auction held in March.
Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations Events Manager, said: “DAD 4S is the perfect Father’s Day present for someone looking for that extra-special gift. It’s just fortunate that, if full payment is swiftly received, there’s no reason why the winner cannot place it on a car in time for the big day.”
The auction consists of an eclectic mix of personalised registrations to suit all car owners and motorists of all tastes including ALV 111S (reserve £400), B0R 111S (£900), ELV 115S (£400), FLU 555H (£900), F4 YED (£1,000), G0F 1E (£700) H0T 80T (£400), M007 0WN (£900), MU55 EUM (£900), N0T 600D (£400), 0Y57 ERS (£1,000), PR0 80Y (£400), RUN 80Y (£900), SAV 111L (£400), TRA 11L (£400), WEB B0Y (£500).
