Enjoy cool Copenhagen without spending a fortune

If you like good quality design, but don’t like to spent a fortune on hotel accommodation, then the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group’s new luxurious 2-star hotel “Wakeup Copenhagen” in the centre of the city is the place to stay this autumn.

The new hotel opened its doors to the public on 1 September and is designed by Danish architect Kim Utzon, son of Jørgen Utzon who built the Sydney Opera. When entering Wakeup Copenhagen, you are instantly met with Danish Design; the famous “Swan Chairs” designed by the grand old man of Danish furniture design, Arne Jacobsen, as well as new designer items from the young Danish design team behind the interior label Normann.

As one might expect from a 2-star hotel, the rooms are small, but this is more than compensated for with its cleverly furbished rooms in light and bright colours, free internet access and flat screens on display.

Staying at the Wakeup Copenhagen also gives you easy access to all that the Danish capital has on offer. From the hotel it is only a five minute walk to the City Hall Square, and you don’t have to waste precious time on transportation to and from Copenhagen airport either, as the central station is only minutes away too.

Wakeup Copenhagen is the first part of a new large building complex by the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group consisting also of the new Tivoli Congress Centre and a 4-star hotel – both scheduled to open in 2010.

If you wish to save even more money, then consider purchasing a Copenhagen Card at the airport too. The city pass will give you free public transportation in the Greater Copenhagen Area and discounts to over 60 sights and attractions in the area.

Book a return flight with Scandinavian Airlines and travel between 7 September and 31 October 2009 and you can, in fact, get a 24-hour Copenhagen Card for free. The offer is applicable for all passengers flying non-stop to Copenhagen Airport on SAS operated flights and is applicable for any SAS fares, excluding Group Travel.
