Avis finds out what its customers leave behind!

17th May 2007 Print
As the holiday rental season hots up Avis announces the result of a survey carried out with its UK Operations Team to find out what weird and wonderful items were left behind in its rental cars last year.

The most common forgotten objects include CDs, cameras, glasses, photographs and children’s toys. Some of the larger ‘left behinds’ were shoes and clothes.

However, there have been a few surprises for the Avis Valet Team! One of them received quite a shock when they came across a prosthetic arm resting in the boot of the car; while another vehicle contained a set of X-rays. The team has also recovered a forgotten walking stick, an infra-red laser to measure distance and a sock filled with £1 coins.

One Avis customer certainly appears to have had a very enjoyable experience with their rental car. When it was returned the vehicle contained a multi-pack of condoms and a pair of knickers!

Finally, one ‘leave behind’ ruffled a few feathers when the Valet Team discovered a brace of Pheasants stashed in the boot of the vehicle.

Xavier Vallee, Head of Marketing, Avis UK says: “As we enter the start of our busiest rental season we thought it would be an ideal time to check in with our Operations Team to find out what they unearth when our cars are returned. The team works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our vehicles are always pristine and ready to rent in a very short space of time. With what has come to light in our survey they’ve certainly had a few surprises and not all of them pleasant! I’m not sure what happened with the Pheasants, and hopefully most of the items that were left behind were soon reunited with their owners.”
