British WRC star enjoys hairy moments in Poland

British TV presenters ‘The Hairy Bikers’ (Dave Myers and Si King) were able to meet up with World Rally Championship star Matthew Wilson at Rally Poland this week, to enjoy a behind-the-scenes experience of the global Championship.

Dave (Myers) and Si (King), both huge motorsport fans, were able to receive tips and advice from Matthew, and co-driver Scott Martin, before donning their race suits to test the clock in a tyre change challenge on Matthew’s Stobart VK M-Sport Ford.

Next up was a more familiar challenge as Dave and Si took to the stove to cook lunch for 2003 WRC champion, Petter Solberg, and other members of his Petter Solberg World Rally Team, before taking time to visit the stages set around Mikolajki.

Dave Myers said: “What an amazing experience! As many people know we’ve a passion for motorcycles but we’re now hooked on the World Rally Championship. There is an amazing buzz at the event with absolutely thousands in the crowd, and what the guys do in these cars is incredible – they’re definitely the greatest drivers in my eyes.”

Si King added: “It was an absolute pleasure to experience Rally Poland, and a real thrill to get so close to the action. We’ve a huge respect for the talent of everyone involved having tried elements of it close up ourselves! After our time on the wheel change though I think we’ll stick to the cooking, but we’ll definitely be following the Championship closely.”
