Holiday Autos has launched the new range of Hybrid vehicles for pick up in four European markets France, Sweden, UK and Ireland. This new offering gives customers the opportunity to travel in a more environmentally-conscious manner.

The Hybrid cars vary by market, and can be bio-ethanol, or combine an electrical motor and a petrol engine giving outstanding fuel efficiency making them the most environmentally-friendly cars on the market.

Hybrid cars available include the Toyota Prius, Ford Focus, Ford Focus C-Max, Volvo S40, Volvo V50 and Saab 9-5.

Prices for a Hybrid car start from £23 per day, based on a seven-day car rental of a Ford Focus in France.

Next month also sees the introduction of Holiday Autos’ carbon offsetting scheme carbonwise. During the booking process, the customer will be given the opportunity to offset their driving emissions and are taken through to the carbon calculator to estimate the emissions from their trip.

Offsetting costs start from 14p per 100 miles for a Hybrid Ford Focus. To offset a petrol hire car it costs 18p per 100 miles, based on the hiring a Petrol Ford Focus.

The carbonwise scheme has been extended to Holiday Autos from its parent company lastminute.com. The leading online travel and leisure retailer launched carbonwise 12 months ago for flights customers to offset emissions. The scheme has proved phenomenally successful with more than 15% of customers offsetting their travel.

Holiday Autos UK Managing Director Stuart Nassos said: “As the world’s leading car-hire broker, we recognise our responsibility towards the environment. Seven out of ten of the cars we hire are already the most fuel-efficient models, so the launch of Hybrid cars and carbonwise are further extensions to our commitment to the environment.”
