High fashion for Icelandair cabin crew

18th December 2008 Print
Because we all know “the clothes make the man” (and women, certainly as well), Icelandair has put a lot of thought into dressing its crew. “It’s quite a challenge to create a good uniform,” says Einarsdóttir. “The people who wear them ought to feel good in terms of both comfort and design.”

Icelandair commissioned the Icelandic designer Steinunn Sigurdardóttir to design the new uniforms. Sigurdardóttir has made a name for herself working with many of the most distinguished contemporary designers. Her positions have included designer for Ralph Lauren, senior designer at Calvin Klein, director and senior designer at Gucci and design director at La Perla. In 2000, she started her own company and brand Steinunn, which has met with great success.

“Our cabin crew is the face of Icelandair,” says Rannveig Eir Einarsdóttir, director of in-flight safety and services. “That’s why we place great emphasis on the design of the new uniforms.”
