Icelandair Holidays debuts ultimate Iceland holiday

7th March 2012 Print

Spring in Iceland means gushing waterfalls, whale watching and more hours of daylight to enjoy the sights of Reykjavik.  With this in mind, Icelandair Holidays has just launched its Ultimate Iceland Holiday which includes many of the country's highlights all in an affordable package that makes for an exciting city break.

The package includes flights (London Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow departures), three nights hotel including breakfast, Reykjavik city tour, Golden Circle tour, whale watching and an afternoon at the Blue Lagoon from £399. This price represents a 30% savings over what all of these activities would cost if they were to be booked separately.

After a short flight to Reykjavik and a day settling in, the second day features a tour of Reykjavik with a local tour guide. After a break for lunch the itinerary continues with a trip to the countryside to circumnavigate the famous Golden Circle route. Stops include Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most majestic waterfalls which is at its most powerful in spring and the Geysir geothermal area. Then there is time to explore Thingvellir National Park, home of the first Viking parliament, where two tectonic plates divide.

Day three begins with a Reykjavik whale watching cruise on scenic Faxafloi Bay where whale sightings are 98% guaranteed. The most common sightings are minke and humpback whales and during the summer months puffin sightings are common. After that the tour visits the Reykjanes peninsula, home to the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful geothermal spa set in the middle of a lava field. The afternoon is spent relaxing in the healing waters of the Blue Lagoon. Day four is a free day and the perfect time to do some shopping or enjoy a morning horse ride.

Icelandair is one of Iceland's longest established companies, connecting the world and Iceland for 75 years.  Icelandair flies from the UK to Iceland with connecting service to Boston, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Seattle, Washington, DC, Halifax and Toronto.  Visit icelandair.co.uk for more information on flights and packages.
