Citroen 2CV 24-hour Race Professional Motorsport World Expo, central Europe’s leading motorsport industry international exhibition that takes place in Cologne, Germany on 3rd, 4th, 5th November 2009, is delighted to be confirmed as the title sponsor for the 19th Annual Citroen 2CV 24-hour race to be staged at Snetterton in the UK on the 8th through to 9th August 2009.

Professional Motorsport World Expo is entering a car of its own (car number 88) in the fiercely contested race as well as providing overall sponsorship. The 24-hour race will involve approximately 30 race-prepared cars, 120 drivers and their support crews; in total some 450 people will be involved in the competition.

Tony Robinson, one of the competitors and founder of Professional Motorsport World Expo, says: “We are delighted for Professional MotorSport World Expo to be able to support grass-roots racing such as the 2CV 24-hour race. The technology within the racing 2CVs has been developed to a highly advanced state far beyond the humble origin of the original road cars. The 2CV race series represents a really affordable race series with fantastically close racing so don’t be surprised to see these 2CVs separated by just centimeters as they top 90mph down the back straight at Snetterton! It’ll be wheel-to-wheel racing for the entire 24 hours.”

The Professional Motorsport World Expo 2CV race-entry features four experienced drivers all of whom work for UKIP Media & Events, the company that organizes Professional MotorSport World Expo. Alongside Tony Robinson, who has put on a respectable show in his first year in 2009 in the 2CV sprint race series, will be Mike Robinson, well-known as a front runner in the Clio Cup series; Lewis Hopkins, winner of the 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup Scholarship; and Graham Johnson, race winner and championship contender in this year’s Caterham Roadsport A Championship. The car will be run and prepared by Paul Robertson’s ‘Tete Rouge Racing’.

Front runners in this year’s 24 Hour race are likely to include fellow Tete Rouge stable mates in Tete Rouge 1, which will be driven by former Series’ champions Phil Myatt, David O’Keefe and Gary Adnitt and front-runner Sammie Fritchley. The Gadget Racing car that won last year’s 24 hour will also be a favourite to win – it is in fact the front-runner in the 2009 Championship to date with drivers Wayne Cowling, Steve Panas , Simon Clarke and Ainslie Bousfield at the helm. Meanwhile, 2CV race club chairman Sir Aubrey Brocklebank co-driving with James Levy and Martin Ryman are likely to be strong contenders.

A live radio broadcast, which will be sponsored by Fine-Print who are supporting car number 97, will be available at the circuit enabling everyone to keep up-to-date with the action. Testing/Qualifying for the 24-hour Citroen 2CV Race will be at 8.30pm and 10pm on Friday 7th August, while the actual race starts at 5.30pm on Saturday 8th August at Snetteron.

*There are one or two driver slots still available for the 2009 race so if you hold a race licence and want to compete, see the contact details below.
