Aer Lingus introduces enhanced seat selection option

6th April 2007 Print
Aer Lingus today announced a number of enhancements to Aerlingus.com that will offer passengers the choice to pre-book additional seat options and travel insurance online. From the end of May customers may choose to pre-book seating in the first five seat rows at a charge of €10, an exit row seat at a charge of €15 and all remaining at a charge of €3.

Alternatively, customers may continue to select their seat at check-in or when using the self-service check-in facility FastPass at no additional charge. In advance of this enhanced facility customers may pre-select their seat online at an introductory charge of €3 per seat effective from Wednesday 4th April. This enhanced facility will allow customers to choose their preferred seat on board all Aer Lingus short haul flights, to/from UK and Europe only, when booking online.

Further to the ongoing developments of Aer Lingus' dynamic packaging whereby customers can now book car hire when booking flights online in one transaction, travel insurance will be included in the booking flow process from next week. Insurance cover starts from as little as €5 per day. Customers who already have travel insurance cover or choose not to take the policy will have the option to do so.

Commenting on the new developments, Commercial Director, Enda Corneille said, "Against a background of short haul fares falling by almost 4% in 2006, today's announcement demonstrates our continued focus on service enhancement; offering our customers greater choice and placing the customer in control of their travel experience.

The response from customers to our recent web initiatives has been extremely positive and these new enhancements are in direct response to customer demand. We recognise the time sensitivity of the business traveller in particular and this new facility will enable greater speed and efficiency in boarding and disembarking, thus offering an overall more streamlined travel experience for customers."
