Aer Lingus seeks to avert strike action

14th November 2007 Print
Aer Lingus has confirmed that the company will engage directly with staff over the next 48 hours in an effort to conclude the cost savings PCI initiative and to avert industrial action at the airline, which has been planned by SIPTU for the 20th and 23rd of November.

In a letter that will be issued by Dermot Mannion to all staff this afternoon, the airline's chief executive will invite staff to meet him directly at Dublin, Cork and Shannon over the course of the next two days at which he will underline the importance for the airline that all services operate as normal next week.

Aer Lingus will not tolerate action that will discommode its customers and sees no legitimate reason why services will not operate next week.

The PCI initiative was first presented to Unions at the airline last December and is essential to maintaining competitiveness and to underpinning future growth for the airline.
