Canine creations headline at DVLA auction

Dog lovers are in for a real treat with 1 MUT and L1 CKS just two of the plates being auctioned by DVLA Personalised Registrations next month.

The canine-registrations are included in the 1,600 being sold over three days at the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre, Wantage, Oxfordshire, commencing on Wednesday, August 5.

Visitors will also be given access to Williams’ museum displaying arguably the biggest collection of Grand Prix cars under one roof. The private collection of cars belonging to living F1 legends Frank Williams and Patrick Head is normally kept behind closed doors with only the privileged being allowed in.

Priceless, the gathering chronicles Williams’ F1 involvement starting with the team’s first car, driven by Alan Jones, during the late 1970s. Others notable cars include the ground-breaking six-wheeler banned by the authorities for being too fast in 1980 and FW14 – the car which powered Nigel Mansell to his record-breaking F1 Championship crown standing alongside those driven by Alain Prost, Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve, David Coultard and, of course, the late, great, Ayrton Senna.

The auction itself has certain Formula One overtures with an array of plates including F1 BOS, F1 BUG, F1 FRA, F1 GER, F1 GOV, F1 GUY, F1 HOT, F1 MAX and F1 SPY to name but a few.

Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: “1 MUT and L1 CKS are two great-related plates we’re including in our next auction. While we have a mix of F1 plates at the home of Williams’ Formula One, there’s always a huge selection to suit all tastes.”
