Classic cars shipped from Majorcan Rally to Beaulieu

Fans of Top Gear will be able to see the classic cars featured in Sunday’s programme (July 26th) at the new World of Top Gear exhibition at Beaulieu in the New Forest, from this Friday (July 31).

The classic cars driven by presenters James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond featured in an ‘unfathomable’ classic car rally around the holiday island of Majorca.

May, Clarkson and Hammond were given £3,000 each to purchase the pre1982 vehicles at an auction and challenged to put them through their paces during the rally.

Once filming was completed arrangements were made to immediately ship them back to Beaulieu so that fans could view them after seeing the programme.

“We intend to keep the exhibition as fresh and contemporary as we possibly can and what could be better than for fans to see the show and the actual cars within just a few days,” said Stephen Munn Commercial Director at the National Motor Museum.

World of Top Gear features a collection of cars created by presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for some of their most ambitious challenges on the TV show over the years.

Exhibition highlights include the Top Gear ‘Enormodrome’ which aims to recreate the feel of the Top Gear studio, where the TV show is filmed in front of a live audience.

Regular features from the programme including the Cool Wall and the Celebrity ‘Lap Times’ boards are kept updated in line with the show. Visitors can also watch an exclusive video presentation from behind the scenes at the TG HQ with Jeremy, Richard and James together with clips from the show featuring the cars on display.
