Pick of the tops for first time car buyers

5th August 2009 Print
Pink or blue? Shopping or footie? Rom-com or action flick? It’s not often girls and boys agree – except it seems on that all important first set of wheels.

Research from Carcraft, the UK’s leading used car hypermarket, suggests that both male and female young drivers are in harmony over their first choice of car.

The Vauxhall Corsa tops the list of favourites for young motorists, beating rivals when it comes to all important street-cred and running costs.

Stylish enough for girls and cool enough for boys, the Vauxhall Corsa also offers enough variants and engine sizes to suit the most demanding spec.

Carcraft Sales Director, Paul Oakley, claims that the Corsa’s mix of economy and style wins over the hearts and the heads of young drivers.

“It’s just a great first car. With a purchase price starting from under £4,000, low running costs and good looks, it has everything a new driver needs – whether they’re a girl or a boy!”

Differences in preference start to appear the further you get down the respective lists of gender-fenders. Whereas girls will sit pretty in a Ford Ka, boys will prefer the slightly more practical Ford Focus. With the new Fiat 500 now starting to enter the used car market, it will be interesting to see if this trendy new model will have an impact on first time driver choices over the next few months.

With over 4,000 cars from over 40 manufacturers, Carcraft offers an unrivalled choice for young drivers.
