Owners of a Lincolnshire based fish and chip shop, Alan Taylor and fiancée Tina Houghton, netted the perfect number plate for their new car, AT06 COD, after fishing around at dvlaregistrations.co.uk.

The pair, who run Chipp’d ‘N’ Batter’d in Swineshead, visited the site after deciding to personalise their Volkswagen Passat in a way which reflected themselves and their business.

Whist A and T represent both Alan and Tina’s first initials, it goes without saying that COD represents the nation’s favourite fish dish!

Alan commented: "We wanted something a little different for the car, something that would make us stand out from the crowd and after visiting DVLA’s website, we found exactly what we wanted."

He added: "It didn’t take us long to find the number plate. We simply entered our first two initials, looked down the generated list and there it was – we reeled it in straight away."

Louise Pierpoint, publicity manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations said: "Its more than just a fishy tale! Many small businesses are now turning to personalised registrations as a fun way to promote their organisations whilst on the move."
