Swinton Skyline R33 steps up to Olympic pace

12th August 2009 Print
Skyline R33 Road testers from Fast Car magazine have been putting the Swinton Skyline R33 through its paces as part of an exclusive videoshoot for the fastcar.co.uk website.

The event took place in the grounds of the Manchester Velodrome, the UK’s National Cycling Centre and home to the world-beating Great Britain Cycling Team. Widely regarded as one of the best indoor tracks anywhere, it will play a key role in the build-up to the London 2012 Olympics.

Fast Car's online editor Glenn Rowswell described the Skyline up for grabs as:

'a super hot motor and a car that any performance nut or modifier would want in their dream garage. The R33 is a great prize, we know as we were lucky enough to drive it. It was just a shame we had to give it back to Swinton Specialist.'

The results of the videoshoot are now available to view at fastcar.co.uk. The 1min 30sec clip features some great views of this Skyline, both static and on the move. Behind it is a futuristic drum & bass soundtrack by Jnr Blue.

The super-coupé is the sensational prize in the 2009 ‘Win a Project Car’ competition from Swinton Specialist, one of the UK’s best-known performance, modified and imported car insurance brokers.

Worth over £10,000 – and with a year’s insurance and a budget for mods thrown in – it’s an amazing prize.

Rob Asher, head of Swinton Specialist, commented: “We’re delighted but not surprised with how many entries we’ve had to win the Swinton Skyline. What with the car, the £2k mods budget and the year’s insurance, it’s a brilliant prize.”

The Skyline is a 2.6-litre 300bhp twin-turbo monster, 1997 vintage, with 63,000 miles on the clock. It’s been imported from Japan specially for this competition.
