GP Masters tee off National Motorsport Week
The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and GP Masters are delighted to announce a new corporate challenge for motorsport and golfing enthusiasts. The MIA Masters of Golf, a Pro-Am event with a difference, will tee off the inaugural National Motorsport Week in support of the Motorsport Foundation.Motorsport and Golf have traditionally been renowned as complementary sports and for many decades now Grand Prix drivers have relaxed on the Golf course after competing at the track. The GP Masters series featuring former Formula One drivers collectively represents the ultimate in racing experience and success, all driven by ambition, dedication and an absolute determination to win.
Drivers in the series including Nigel Mansell (UK), Derek Warwick (UK), Eddie Cheever (USA), Christian Danner (Germany), Jan Lammers (Netherlands), Pierluigi Martini (Italy) and Eric van de Poele (Belgium) are scheduled to become "Pro" members of a number of "4 ball" teams.
The event will take place on Thursday 10th August at Whittlebury Golf and Country Club, adjacent to Silverstone Circuit (Northamptonshire). After 18 holes of golf, players will transfer to Silverstone Circuit for lunch and a prize giving, before touring the pits and seeing behind the scenes of the GP Masters series.

"We are honoured that GP Masters have lent their support towards launching National Motorsport Week with this unique event. The MIA launched the Motorsport Foundation to generate and provide funds that support good causes within the industry and the sport. National Motorsport Week was an initiative of the Foundation to attract new audiences and participants into motorsport."
Scott Poulter, GP Masters Chief Executive
"GP Masters are delighted to nominate the Motorsport Foundation as its chosen fund to support, not only for this event in the UK but also at the other international venues. We intend to leave a footprint in each nation in order to develop grass roots growth and interest thereby investing something back into motorsport."
Nigel Mansell, OBE
"An extremely worthy initiative and one we wholeheartedly support. The Motorsport Foundation will help play a critical and much needed role towards ensuring that everyone is given an equal opportunity to explore, strengthen and ultimately translate their passion and interest into participation at all levels of motorsport."
