Hiking in Heidi-land
Follow in the footsteps of Heidi – hiking through scenery of mountains, valleys, lakes, pastures and waterfalls – courtesy of the Switzerland Travel Centre. This eight-night trip in Heidiland – a small, picturesque area in eastern Switzerland portrayed in Joanna Spyri’s much-loved children’s books – is available throughout August and September and costs £538 per person.
This twin share price includes return flights from Heathrow or London City, rail transfers, accommodation with breakfast – plus four dinners - in small hotels, luggage transfers on six days, detailed hiking itinerary, maps and suggestions.
The trip also includes an overnight stay in a mountain hut (shared accommodation, with running water only) where visitors can experience crystal clear, star-strewn skies.
The average walking time ranges between three and a half and six hours per day and the terrain covered includes meadows, valleys and lake shores. There is also a degree of high alpine walking – above and below tree level – so visitors must be physically fit and have some experience of hiking.
