Direct Line customers to benefit from new ‘matched’ no claims bonus
Direct Line has launched a new benefit that will allow motorists to match their NCD on subsequent cars that are insured with the company. The policy is open to all motorists and can be used on up to nine cars.Direct Line is the only major insurer to offer this kind of ‘matched’ NCD to UK motorists. Although other insurers offer similar schemes all have certain restrictions applicable, such as age of driver or car group.
Research by Direct Line has revealed that there are now over 3.7 million drivers in the UK who personally own more than one car and may currently be paying full price for their insurance on their second car despite ‘owning’ NCD that proves they are a safe driver.
In addition to matching drivers NCD, Direct Line also offers a 10% multi-car discount on the overall cost of the policy.
Emma Holyer, Motor Spokesperson for Direct Line, said: ”Many motorists now own two cars and it doesn’t seem fair that although they have proved they are a safe driver they are unable to claim NCD on more than one car. Direct Line believes that if you have evidence that shows you are a safe driver you should be able to benefit from a discount on all your insurance, not just one policy.”
Second cars are the most common in country areas with as many as one in eight drivers in Wales and Scotland with two cars.
Direct Line has already launched a range of new benefits this year including a Named Driver NCD that enables named drivers to build up their own NCD if they are driving someone else’s car and a 10% discount for anyone who has a car stored at the same address as another Direct Line policyholder.
