Put your best foot forward on a Swiss walking break

12th March 2009 Print

A wealth of walking holiday ideas - taking in some of Europe's finest alpine scenery - is on offer in 2009 from the Switzerland Travel Centre. Itineraries include the five-night Lake Brienz Circular Walk in the Bernese Oberland - an easy and short walking trail taking in lake shores, forest paths, meadows and mountain slopes - on offer between May and October.

The walk around the lake - renowned for its colour which ranges from deep turquoise to emerald green - begins and ends in Interlaken, with the average walking time per day being between three and five hours.

Highlights along the way include the Giessbach Falls - where huge masses of water plunge down over 14 levels of rock into the lake - the natural lido in the chalet village of Goldswil-Ringgenberg and a boat trip across Lake Thun.

The twin share price of £719 per person includes return flights from Heathrow, rail transfers, five nights' half-board accommodation in three-star hotels, luggage transfers and detailed hiking itinerary.
