Classical music meets nature on a musical sea voyage

In January 2010, MV Trollfjord will transform into a musical stage as she travels south from Tromso to Oslo with onboard concerts and a performance in Oslo’s newly built opera house.

The focus of the Hurtigruten opera voyage is on the connection between nature and classical music and with any luck, the Northern Lights will also dance in the heavens to the music onboard.

Norway offers not only diverse landscapes, but also a broad cultural sphere, especially in music. Hurtigruten’s exclusive musical programme is ideal for culture lovers - whilst guests glide by majestic fjords, snow-covered mountains and romantic fishing villages they will be able to listen to musicians and soloists from the Norwegian State Opera in the panorama salon of MV Trollfjord. One evening is dedicated to the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.

Highlight of the voyage is a new year's concert at the new Norwegian State Opera in Oslo. The opera house is one of the most important cultural projects in Norway in centuries and has become a magical attraction for residents and visitors from around the world since its inauguration in 2008. The minimalist architecture takes up glaciers, snow and icebergs in homage to Norway.

The voyage starts in Tromso with the chance to possibly spot the Northern Lights and travels south, through the Lofoten islands to Trondheim before heading on to Bergen. The second half of the voyage is from Bergen to Oslo - a journey that does not form the usual coastal voyage route.

The voyage departs on 4 January 2010 and costs from £1230 per person. The price includes return flights from London Heathrow, six night full board accommodation on the ship, services of a tour manager, transfers and taxes. There is no single supplement on this voyage. It is also possible to add a dog sledging excursion from £135pp and sightseeing in Trondheim from £32pp.
