October offers on the Amalfi Coast

The Villa Book has some great offers for Amalfi Coast villas for the remainder of this season. Still warm, with clear blue skies in October, the Amalfi coast is the perfect destination to catch the last of the summer sun.

Having visited Positano in November last year, it was absolutely idyllic to be able to enjoy the magnificent views and other enticements of this unique part of the world, without having to battle with the inevitable traffic and crowds associated with July and August.

The Villa Book still has availability at some of the most beautiful villas available to rent on this stunning coast, all with uninterrupted sea views, and located near the centres of Positano, Praiano and Ravello. Stunningly beautiful, picture-postcard Positano has made the transition from sleepy fishing village into one of Italy's most popular resort towns, without losing any of its charm. Praiano, also an ancient fishing village, near Positano, is also a prestigious seaside resort, with a delightful, traditional village centre. Ravello is another stunning holiday destination, overlooking the coast and a treasure house of medieval art, as well as renowned for its music festival in June and July.

In Positano Villa Giacaranda occupies arguably the best position available, high above the town, with incredible views from its garden and terraces of the sea, and the whole coast, as far as the promontory at Praiano. The town and beach are about 10 – 15 minute walk down wide steps (a baggage carrying service can be arranged for arrivals and departures!). The entrance gate opens to a large terrace, filled with bougainvillea and hibiscus, and with a new heated Jacuzzi , ideal for autumn use. The terrace extends around to the front of the house where there is a covered dining area, also with fabulous views. There is a swimming pool on a lower terrace, for summer rentals. The villa comfortably sleeps 8 – 12 people.

Just a little further along the coast is idyllic Praiano, where we rent the magnificent Villa Praiano, sleeping 12 – 16 people. With a very private location, high above the coastline, the town is a 67 step walk uphill, while a nearby pathway leads all the way down to Praia Beach below. Impressive, yet blending in perfectly with its natural surroundings, the large rooms open up to terraces, with seating and dining areas, all taking full advantage of the sea views. There is a very large sea water swimming pool on a lower level.

Further south, is the exceptional Villa di Mare, an imposing and beautifully restored 19th century villa, right on the coast at Ravello. Its huge terraced gardens, filled with lemon and orange groves, and bougainvillea vines, slope right down to the edge of the sea. Right near the bottom, in a panoramic position, directly overlooking the sea, is a sun terrace built into the rocks, with a spa pool. Steps lead down from here to a small private pier, with direct sea access. The bougainvillea terrace, and a furnished roof garden are perfect for special events.

Recently renovated throughout, the original features and special character of the building have been retained, and the rooms are furnished with elegant furnishings and antiques. Fitting for the Ravello location, the eight spacious bedrooms have been given musical names; Overture, Rhapsodia, Suite, Fantasia, Romance, Arabesque, Melodia and Fuga.

At all three villas The Villa Book is offering 20% reduction off website prices for any bookings in October and November 2009.
