Swiss Extravaganza event returns to the capital

Emmi is one of Europe's leading providers of premium dairy products, and the brand is proud to be participating in a special Swiss themed Winter event taking place at Broadgate Circle in London on Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October 2009.

The ‘Swiss Extravaganza’ is now in its second year, and sees a little bit of Switzerland transported to the heart of the City, with the creation of a 5m x 20m long ski slope adjacent to Liverpool Street Station.

A host of Swiss brands are supporting the 2009 event, including Switzerland Tourism, Swiss International Air Lines, Switzerland Travel Centre, Swiss Deluxe Hotels, Jungfrau Railways and a host of regional Swiss Tourism offices. The event will run across two days and a dedicated Swiss themed networking event and barbecue will take place on the evening of Thursday 1st October at the Corney & Barrow bar in Broadgate Circle. A dedicated website has been set up to facilitate complimentary entry to the event, interested parties should visit: pictureyourselfinswitzerland.com to register for the event and view a full list of participating brands.

As with previous events, a range of adrenalin fuelled winter sporting activities will be showcased on the ski slope, including professional ski and snowboard stunts. There are opportunities for the public to enjoy free and unlimited snow tubing (sledging on giant inflatable rubber rings). Swiss dairy brand Emmi will be taking up residence in a hamlet of mountain chalets. The company will be sampling a range of delicious dairy products, fondue and raclette, providing visitors with a true flavour of the Swiss Alps and insight to traditional après ski dining traditions. A Swiss band will accompany wine and cheese tasting throughout the day.

Emmi is the brand behind the best selling range of CAFFE LATTE and CHOCO LATTE iced coffee and chocolate drinks, Kaltbach cave aged Emmentaler and Le Gruyere cheeses, Emmi Swiss fruit and muesli yogurts and the functional cheese miniCol – clinically proven to actively reduce cholesterol levels. All Emmi’s Swiss dairy products are made from only the highest quality natural ingredients added to fresh, creamy milk from specially selected dairy herds grazed in the lush pastures of the Swiss Alps.

Julie Plant, MD of Emmi UK, commented; “It’s not every day that you see a real ski slope pop up in central London, and we are delighted to be involved with this special event once again. It’s been a tough year in the city and we hope that we can help get the Capital’s workers and residents into the mood for some fun in the snow as the winter months arrive. Emmi will be sampling a delicious range of dairy products and fondue throughout the event to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy the authentic flavour of Switzerland.”

Join in the fun at Broadgate Circle on Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October at the following times:

• Thursday 1st: 12 noon – 9pm (Swiss networking event 7.30 – 9.30pm)
