'Pirates of the Caribbean' galleon at St Vincent and the Grenadines

29th January 2008 Print
Pearl Pirate Galleon Harlequin Property are pleased to announce that their ‘new’ Pirates of the Caribbean galleon, ‘Pearl’ will soon be completed in Indonesia and that after initial sea trials it will embark upon its marathon voyage via London and the River Thames to its final mooring at the Buccament Bay development on St Vincent and the Grenadines where it will be become a fine dining restaurant for residents.

Dave Ames Marketing Director for Harlequin Property says, “St Vincent and the Grenadines was the setting for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and filming took place all along the coast from the Buccament Bay development with a purpose made town along with many other props such as canons and coffins still in place today as a tourist attraction. After the success of this Hollywood blockbuster we decided that a pirate galleon permanently moored in the harbour would act as a great focal point and act as a reminder to days of old when pirates of the Caribbean were indeed a very real threat.”

The galleon will measure 38 metres in length with an 8 metre beam and will boast a gun deck, main deck and poop deck. Being traditionally built by hand from solid timber, it will embark upon its 5 month crossing later this year taking in London, New York and Miami whilst works continues below decks.

Buccament Bay is a premier resort location situated on the West coast of the island just fifteen minutes from the airport. It brings to the market a selection of studio, one and two bedroom apartments along with one and two bedroom cabanas and a selection of premier plantation houses set around a lagoon within its own private bay. Each property comes fully furnished to the highest standards and facilities include swimming pools, gymnasium, full hotel facilities, spa, restaurants, bars, sports facilities, shops and water sports. In addition there will be a casino and a marina which will be home to the pirate ship.

Dave continues, “St Vincent and the Grenadines are emerging as a favourite destination within the Caribbean and property prices are rising sharply. It is anticipated that prices here will rise to match that of its more affluent neighbours such as St Lucia and Barbados which are approximately 30 minutes flying time away. Hundreds of years after the Pirates of the Caribbean, it looks as if the treasure all along was the islands themselves.”

Prices at Buccament bay start from just £115,000 and there is a 10% rental guarantee for two years followed by a 50% room share rate for the subsequent five years.
