New Greg Norman golf course in Praslin Bay, St Lucia

Carved into the hillside and surrounded by vertical cliffs, the Greg Norman Signature Course is anticipated to be one of the most challenging and breathtaking courses in the world St Lucia is set to become the golfing Mecca of the Caribbean after the recent announcement of a new 18-hole par 72 championship golf course designed exclusively by Greg Norman, in addition to the expected signature courses of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Christy O’Connor Jnr.

Carved into the hillside and surrounded by vertical cliffs, the Greg Norman Signature Course is anticipated to be one of the most challenging and breathtaking courses in the world.

The course, with its jaw-dropping views across the coastline, will be located in Praslin Bay and will lure UK and Irish investors to the luxurious Le Paradis Residences.

Perched on virgin rocky cliffs amidst lush tropical foliage, Norman’s latest triumph is on par to become one of the world’s premier golf courses. The course offers cliff-side tee boxes and oceanfront greens, while ‘The Shark’s Bight’ beckons the bravest of golfers to drive into the island’s windward breezes and over the Atlantic Ocean to reach the pin.

‘The Shark’s Bight’ refers to the signature 14th hole of ‘Le Paradis Resort and Residences’ new Greg Norman-designed championship course. The name plays off Norman’s moniker and the breathtaking jagged end of the Praslin Bay peninsula.

Currently under construction, the championship golf course is due for completion in February 2008 and will make the beautiful island of St. Lucia the only Caribbean island to have four championship golf courses, which will lure golfers from around the globe to putt in the tropical sun.

Greg Norman, CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises, which encompasses Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) comments: “There are few places in the world so pure and untouched, and with the land rising from sea level to 610 feet, the topography offers serene vistas of the island and the coastline. The 14th hole is one of the most stunning; yet challenging holes I have ever designed and with the innate difficulty of a water hazard, by way of the sea below, will leave an indelible memory”

“I am eager to see Greg’s vision come to fruition and for St. Lucia to become a premier golfing and residential destination,” says Kierron Dolby, developer of Le Paradis Resort and Residences. “The Shark’s Bight is destined to become one of the most famous holes in the world.”

A spectacular 554-acre ultra-exclusive multi-phased luxury residential resort community, Le Paradis will be managed by Starwood-Westin Hotels & Resorts and will feature a first-class spa, 50-slip marina, premier restaurants, conference facilities, mixed-use components and much more. With Greg Norman’s acclaimed course framing the resort, the tropical paradise will be the premier address on St. Lucia and one of the most luxurious in the Caribbean. The course will be managed by renowned Troon Golf.

Each residence in the resort will benefit from unrivalled ocean views, comes fully furnished, down to the last detail, and will be finished to Starwood Westin’s exacting standards. The granite and stone finished bathrooms feature double sinks, oversized tubs and showers, and Westin’s world-renowned ‘Heavenly Beds’ are standard in each bedroom.

Le Paradis’ limited number of residences includes one, two and three-bedroom apartments and villas with unobstructed ocean views. Prices start at approximately £275,000, up to approximately £750,000 for the ultimate luxury of a three bed villa, with incentives including Le Paradis’ golf initiation membership waived and a Troon Advantage VIP card.
