Festival fun in Phuket

2nd February 2007 Print
The Village Coconut Island The tropical island of Phuket is probably the second most popular holiday destination in Thailand and it’s not very hard to see why. Its green hills, turquoise water, long stretches of sandy beaches and lively night spots attract sun worshipers, divers, sightseers and revellers alike.

Revellers from all over the world flock to the island to enjoy the numerous festivals which are so much a part of island life. At least seven months of the year (from Oct to Apr) there is something or other going on. Festivals have included the King’s Cup Regatta (sailing), the Gay Festival, the Vegetarian Festival, the Chinese New Year and the International Cricket Sixes.

From 16th to 17th February this year the 2nd Annual Phuket International Blues Festival will take place at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa. The phenomenal voice of British blues legend Victor Brox will again fill the air on Friday night and The Rich Harper Band (USA) will close the show Saturday night. The event is in aid of charity with all profits being donated to Phuket children’s education.

With the opening of a new international airport, it is now so easy to join the party and with property prices in Phuket still significantly less that other exotic holiday destinations and re-sale prices still continuing to increase, owning your own piece of paradise has never been easier.

If the thought of owning a place in one of the friendliest places in the world is attractive, villas in a new, unique, luxurious residential property development called The Village are currently being offered for sale. 148 two to five bedroom luxury pool villas are being constructed on Coconut Island, a five minute speedboat ride from Phuket, resting in the sheltered waters of Phang-Nga Bay.

The Village estate will be managed as a water sports resort which will attract both long term residents and short-break visitors, the latter yielding excellent rental returns to villa owners over a 12 month season.

The estate will run a regular 24 hour water taxi service from The Village to Phuket, so should residents or visitors wish to join in the festival fun, it is never far away.
