Cretan comforts

21st March 2007 Print
It’s not just the weather temperature that is making Crete, the largest of the Greek Islands and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean, ‘hot’ news at the moment. For long, a popular holiday destination with the British, Crete is coming into its own, offering genuine investment opportunities and increasingly high quality homes for those wishing to take advantage of a high standard but low cost of living.

One such opportunity lies within the Maleme Project, a beach-front development in the Platanias area, comprising 16 two bed apartments and 8 three bedroom maisonettes, situated just 17 Km from historical Chania. The project is being developed by Cybarco Real Estate Development S.A, arguably the developer that is leading this new generation of superior build.

The spacious apartments – remaining properties range between 64 m2 to 124 m2 - have been carefully designed to maximise both living and storage space, thus attracting permanent residents and holiday home-buyers.. Each property has immediate access into the communal gardens and pool and benefit from individual parking spaces. Some maisonettes are being offered with the option of a private pool.

Whilst a beautiful sandy beach lies within stepping-stones of the development, the area of Platanias provides the full range of amenities - banks, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and pharmacies - open and available throughout the year.

According to Currencies Direct’s latest Global Money Movers League Table, Greece has become one of the top 10 destinations for Britons wishing to invest in overseas property. Nowhere is this more prevalent than on the island of Crete and in particular in areas close to the ancient town of Chania.

On the north-west cost of Crete, this town of unique beauty, filled with the aroma of fragrant flowers is rich in cultural heritage. Ancient and modern monuments, the stunning Venecian Harbour and old town, colourful neighbourhoods, exquisite natural beauty and traditional lifestyle, quite simply make Chania one of the most attractive towns in Greece and its surrounds, some of the most sought after locations in which to live.
