Savills unveils designers dream in Dublin

Number 10 spans 304.9 sq metres (3,282 sq ft) over two levels with ceiling heights varying from 2.9m to 3.1m. This expansive light filled penthouse is located on the top floors of four original buildings with the guest quarters located on the floor below. Carried out over an 18 month period, Andrée Putman was responsible for all aspects of the design, including the impressive architecture, which transformed this raw space into a striking residence merging functionality and comfort with fine modern décor. The living space is divided into three distinct areas; a central seating area, a spacious dining area and a cosy home entertainment zone. The property is complete with an innovative ‘glasshouse’ kitchen, a study which can function as a home office, library or tranquil chill-out zone, a finely appointed master bedroom and bathroom with a hammam/steam room and luxurious guest quarters partitioned in the west wing of the penthouse.
Most of the apartment is finished in custom-made antique oak cobbles sourced directly from America’s Great Lakes. Many of the bespoke pieces of furniture showcased in Number 10 have been individually created by eminent designer Andrée Putman and will be included in the sale, such as Putman’s famous sliding black and cream chequered “A Vous de Jouer” mirror which is one of only 20 ever made and stunning Origami Tables custom-made in France.
Andrée Putman’s impressive design portfolio includes other interiors projects for Yves St. Laurent, the Morgan Hotel in New York, the world’s first boutique hotel, and the Bordeaux Museum of Contemporary Art. The diversity of her signature modern design ethos led to her being commissioned to design the trophy for the French Soccer Championship in addition to creating the luxurious interiors for Air France’s Concorde. During her prestigious career, Putman has amassed a number of impressive accolades such as European Grand Prix for Interior Architecture 1991, Stars of Design Lifetime Achievement Award 1997 and the Modernism Design Lifetime Achievement Award 1999.
Shelbourne Development acquired the Virgin Megastore building, formerly owned by Richard Branson, on Aston Quay in 2002 and has carried out significant re-development work over the last number of years. Number 10 The Aston Building is situated in this prime location in Dublin city centre, offering immediate access to the Capital’s commercial district with the IFSC minutes away. Neatly positioned between the city’s two main pedestrianised shopping areas, Grafton Street to the south and Henry Street to the north, retail amenities, along with Dublin’s vibrant social scene, are within walking distance from Number 10.
