International integration

27th June 2008 Print
International integration Malta is fast becoming the cosmopolitan capital of the Mediterranean. Its new 450 million Euros regeneration programme by Midi plc at Tigne Point and Manoel Island are being credited with a new found international integration, which ultimately is raising Malta’s profile and making Malta one of the most sought after ‘chic’ lifestyle destinations in the European arena.

James Vassallo Senior Manager for Tigne Point Marketing Ltd said, “Malta is coming of age and perhaps its late arrival on the international stage as a destination favoured by discerning investors is its greatest attribute.

Malta has undoubtedly had an impact on the tourist industry over the years and has ultimately benefited financially, however this island steeped in history was more often than not, off the hard core tourist’s radar, something which the Maltese people are thankful for today. Now with an island relatively unblemished by the ravages that the Spanish Costa’s’ have had to endure, their blank canvas has paved the way for a new lease of life, especially for those looking to settle here permanently, and Tigne Point which looks out over the capital Valletta is now leading this international revolution with no shortages of overseas audiences triumphing its attractions to date.”

The impact of Tigne Point which was conceived as a holistic, mixed-use development comprising residential, commercial and leisure elements has been enormous and some 40% of investors to date have been from pastures overseas, with Britain, South Africa, Norway and even the Ukraine represented amongst the list of overseas owners.

This growing international community have one thing in common; they all communicate in English, which is a major selling point for the island along with the tax advantages, low crime rate, the Maltese culture and renowned hospitality and, undoubtedly, the clement weather.

James continues, “The main architectural theme proposed to encompass the residential, commercial and leisure facilities at Tigne Point was the revisiting of the age old urban planning solution of the Piazza. This means that the pedestrian footfall routes converge at the centre of the peninsula creating an area known as Piazza Tigne, an area of some 2,500sqm lined with trees and cafes.

Practically all of the commercial premises are situated around the square with the majority of residential zones located on the perimeter benefiting from sea views. Encompassing some 30 acres, Tigne Point is championed as a car free zone and it has been a modern day engineering marvel that has seen underground road networks, parking areas, ventilation systems, generators and reservoirs constructed to serve the new residents and visitors to Tigne Point.”

T10 is the latest residential release at Tigne Point. In total it offers a selection of 59 one, two and three bedroom contemporary apartments and six stunning penthouses. Each apartment is built to a superior standard and benefits from quality materials selected by top interior design artist Pippa Toledo. Such is the uniqueness of Tigne Point, that all previous residential releases have been sold at the off plan stage and T10, with its panoramic views over the harbour to Valletta and clear Mediterranean, is expected to follow suite.

Prices at T10 start from just £174,000 for a one bedroom apartment.
