The humorous motorsport figures and cars made famous by Jim Bamber’s regular cartoons for Autosport and other enthusiast magazines have long been on the gift lists of kids and adults alike. Now the first cars from his new ‘Heroes’ Collection have been launched in time for Christmas.

Fans of the reigning World Drivers’ Champion, Lewis Hamilton, will delight at the model of him on board his McLaren Grand Prix car with Union Jack in hand. Beautifully crafted in a resin and stone mix, it measures some 16cm in length – an ideal addition to any enthusiast’s bedroom shelf or lounge mantelpiece. A royalty on every sale will be paid to the Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust founded by three times world champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE.

The much missed Colin McRae MBE, Britain’s first ever World Rally Champion, will forever be remembered for his daring drives at the wheel of a variety of cars, but in particular the Subaru Impreza (the model in which he won the 1995 World Rally Championship) and the Ford Focus (Colin was the first driver to win a World Championship rally at the wheel of a Focus). Bamber’s depictions of both are now available.

Of enormous character, the McRae cars comprise two moulds – the lower chassis with wheels, driver and co-driver, and then the rest of the bodyshell. Once assembled, the cars are hand-painted and equipped with decals and windows. A royalty on every sale will be paid to the charity established in Colin’s name – ‘The Colin McRae Vision’.
