Pink cars not so F.A.B in the UK
It might be F.A.B for Thunderbird’s Lady Penelope and ‘hot’ for Paris Hilton, but pink is unanimously the least desirable car colour in the UK.In a poll of over a thousand motorists by online retailer, Carsite.co.uk, pink topped the list of unusual shades with over 29 percent of the vote – almost one in three respondents. Second place in the unpopularity stakes was brown with 16 percent closely followed by gold with 13.7 percent.
Even though retro white is enjoying a recent surge in popularity, accounting for around 1 in 12 cars on the road today, it has just as many detractors according to Carsite.co.uk with 6.5 percent of the vote.

In the UK, silver, blue and black are the most common car colours, collectively responsible for 65% of the market. That said there are more than 150 pink, 250 brown and 1,000 purple hued cars for sale nationwide today.
“Choosing your car colour wisely can pay dividends when it comes to trading in your vehicle. Conservatively toned models will traditionally achieve a higher resale value than their more vibrantly coloured counterparts,” explains Alistair Jeff of Carsite.co.uk. “Even so, those who have invested in pink versions of small and funky cars like the Nissan Figaro, Ford Streetka or MINI should have no problem attracting buyers in what is a niche but popular corner of the market.”
Whilst pink may not be the colour of choice for the driving majority, it is a firm favourite with celebrity drivers. Paris Hilton has been regularly snapped with her $200,000 lurid pink Bentley Continental GT, whilst a pink and white 1989 Rolls Royce Phantom V, previously owned by Elton John, is currently for sale for €125,000. Even Elvis Presley boasted multiple pink Cadillac convertibles in his car collection and a unique 1969 replica of the original Pink Panther car went for £71,000 at auction in 2007.
