Sizzling September sales for Nissan

Ranked as the 7th best selling car maker in the UK in September, Nissan has overtaken Citroën and Honda while also leaving behind premium brands including Mercedes-Benz and Audi. With a total market share of 4.3 per cent, Nissan is reaping the rewards of its forward thinking new model range.
The most popular member of the Nissan family last month was the Qashqai, a ground-breaking British built cross-over model with a winning blend of practicality, value and quality. The Qashqai has been placed 14th in the overall new car sales chart for September, thanks to the 5,583 happy customers who placed an order in September.
But it’s not only Qashqai that’s giving Nissan cause for celebration. Sustained strong demand for all Sunderland manufactured models including the chic Micra supermini, versatile Note MPV and the space-saving marvel that is the seven seat Qashqai+2 have all added up to healthy total British built September Nissan sales figure of 13,826.
This is thanks in part to the success of the Government’s Scrappage Scheme – now extended to include a further 100,000 cars – as well as Nissan’s own Trade-in deal. While the Scrappage Scheme offers a £2,000 discount against the price of any new Nissan in exchange for any model over 10 years old, the Trade-in offer provides a minimum £2,000 trade-in to any owner of a car aged 8-10 years old. What’s more, Nissan has matched the government’s pledge to a continued renaissance in new car sales by continuing its own incentive alongside the extended Scrappage Scheme.
Nissan’s UK MD, Paul Willcox comments: “Nothing gives the UK car industry a boost like strong Nissan sales. As the UK’s biggest car maker we can make a bigger difference to Britain’s manufacturing industry than any of our competitors, and we’re delighted to be celebrating strong sales in September. What’s more, with the right models, offers and incentives in place, we look forward to sustaining sales success throughout the rest of the year.”
