Leasing sector eyes greener cars

19th October 2009 Print
The push for greener cars is working the latest research shows, with a staggering 65 per cent saying that they intend to lease a car which emits less than 160g/km of CO2.

According to leading car leasing website, ContractHireAndLeasing.com who conducted the research, motorists are taking seriously the need to buy the most lowest CO2 emitting, frugal and fuel efficient cars available.

The website, whose users are split between personal leasing and business leasing customers, all showed strong signs of considering their carbon footprint in opting to stay within lower tax bands.

Whether this is environmental consideration or indeed, just a smart evasion of additional tax is unclear, yet it proves that Government initiatives to reduce motoring carbon emissions are working.

Richard Lawton, marketing manager for ContractHireAndLeasing.com said: “There are a whole host of compelling reasons why business and personal car leasing customers are intent on leasing a greener car.”

“A combination of tax pressure, escalating fuel prices, environmental concerns and corporate social responsibility considerations for many businesses has pushed most people into looking for a fuel efficient car,” he concludes.
