The Online Energy Saver 7 tariff topples small challenger First Utility from their second place position and is now cheapest of the big six, at £952 per annum. It is a best-buy in two regions, but doesn't quite compete with OVO, who remain top of the best-buys with a £920 average across the country that was announced earlier in the week.

Once again it is the online customers who reap the rewards of the current climate of competition. There is absolutely no benefit to staying put and hoping for the best in the face of grim forecasts of future price rises.
