Trailblazers Business Award for female motoring club

1st August 2006 Print
Newcomer FOXY Lady Drivers Club is the runner up in the 2006 Trailblazers Business Awards, a prestigious competition to celebrate entrepreneurship, organised by The Daily Telegraph and life assistance group CPP.

FOXY™ provides motoring advice and exclusive membership services for women drivers in the UK.

With prize money of £50,000, The Trailblazers Business Award attracted entrepreneurs in their droves but only six made it through the intensive first-stage selection.

Each was then invited to make a presentation at London's Ritz Hotel to a judging panel of experienced and respected business people including Sir John Bond, Vodafone's new Chairman; CPP's founder and chairman Hamish Ogston and The Daily Telegraph's City Editor, Damian Reece. They then returned to The Ritz, a week later, for the Awards Lunch and a presentation ceremony.

Whilst the eventual winner of the 2006 Trailblazers Award was a texting software business called Groupcall, the final decision wasn't an easy one and FOXY Lady Drivers Club remained in the running right until the end. The judges agreed that an everyday motoring club for women was a great idea and they could certainly see FOXY's potential. They recognised that the company needed financial backing, and whilst this was a viable business [after only 18 months] 'a business angel could make the world of difference to this very good idea'.

"Of course we were disappointed not to win, but delighted to come in second after such a rigorous award process" said FOXY Lady Drivers Club founder, Steph Savill. "This is also a brilliant opportunity for us to meet the right business partners who support our aims, and can help us grow this business fast."
