Taste of the Continent returns to Plymouth

Traders from Germany, France, Holland, Russia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Wales, Finland will provide a truly authentic taste of the Continent. The stalls will set up on Armada Way to tempt shoppers with specialities from their homeland.
The Continental Market will boast tempting food and drink from around the world. This year the market welcomes a Breton Patisserie selling delicious biscuits, cakes and mouth-watering gateaux. As well as sweet treats there will be plenty of savoury snacks on offer too.
Alongside the fantastic food on offer, a number of stalls will be selling traditional craftwork, skin care products, leather goods and even alpaca knitwear made in a village close to Matchu Pitchu in Peru.
Eve Wooldridge, BID retail manager at Plymouth City Centre Company said: “The Continental Market is always a really popular event. Whenever the continental traders visit Plymouth there is a great atmosphere as everyone heads down to try out the new and exciting fresh produce and speciality goods.
“It’s great to welcome the market back again and to see so many new stalls taking part. There really is something for everyone at this market. Every time they visit it seems to get bigger and better, offering locals and visitors the chance to try out specialities from across the whole of Europe and now from even further afield.”
The Market will play host to a large number of city centre favourites, including a Dutch Cheese specialist who will be selling delicious Dutch cheese, Dutch Cakes, Liquorice, and mouth watering Waffles.
A range of new traders will be joining the market for the first time this weekend. Shoppers will be able to buy authentic Russian Dolls, Egyptian painting and artwork and Dutch flowers, plants, bulbs and shrubs. People will also be able to sample traditional food from a Greek deli and an Italian delicatessen stall.
The Continental Market runs from Thursday, October 15 to Sunday, October 18, in Armada Way, with opening times of 9.00 to 18:00 Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 10.30 to 16:30 on Sunday.
