McCarthy & Stone explains the digital switchover

McCarthy & Stone explains the digital switchover In preparation for the digital switchover in November McCarthy & Stone is hosting an information day at its Hodgson Court development on Burnage Lane on Wednesday 28th October.

From 11am -12pm, a digital expert will be giving a presentation and answering any questions about what will happen when the analogue signal is turned off and what actions people need to take.

Fiona Brooks, regional sales and marketing manager, said: “A lot of elderly people are unclear about the digital switchover and how it will affect them, which is why we’re holding this special event. We want to bust any jargon surrounding the changeover and make sure that everyone can still watch public service television channels after the analogue signal is phased out. It will also be an opportunity for residents and visitors to find out more about the Switchover Help Scheme, which offers people aged 75 and over practical help and support with switching their TV set to digital, including equipment, installation and aftercare.”

From the 4th November the process of turning off analogue signals from the Winter Hill transmitter will begin. BBC2 will be the first channel affected, followed by the other channels at the beginning of December. The switchover will mean those without digital-ready televisions will have to buy a new set or invest in a digibox to convert their existing televisions.

Fiona added: “Our special information event is the ideal opportunity to find out more about the switchover but also gives visitors the chance to see the lifestyle they could be enjoying at Hodgson Court. There is also a chance to win a digital freeview box for those who attend our event.”

Hodgson Court is an exclusive development of 50 apartments priced from just £99,950. Located just 630 metres from the shops on Burnage Lane, the development is also well placed for public transport with bus stops just outside as well as two nearby railway stations, Burnage and Mauldeth Road. All of which provide easy access to a number of local destinations including both Manchester and Stockport city centres with all of the amenities you would expect from these locations.
