A unique concept in learning to ski

1st October 2009 Print

Inside Out Skiing is introducing a unique approach to teaching beginner skiers this winter season. Using The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead and the Austrian resort of Sölden, Inside Out Skiing will provide high quality instruction for people new to skiing, starting in the UK and then continuing in Austria.

At the heart of the concept is that the same team of instructors will be with you from your very first time on snow in the UK all the way through your first trip out in the mountains. A complete holiday service will be offered, including travel, accommodation, tuition, equipment hire and lift passes, ensuring each client's holiday is stress-free.

Rob Rees of Inside Out Skiing said "we firmly believe that beginners can be better served by using the facilities at The Snow Centre to develop their confidence and learn the fundamentals of skiing before they take their first alpine holiday. Using the same team of instructors in Austria will help consolidate and build on this progress. This is the best way to ensure that the most value can be gained from that expensive first holiday."

New skiers will be taught in small groups during three afternoon or evening sessions over one week at The Snow Centre, so they are ready to make progress around the easy slopes of Sölden, bypassing those first couple of days on the nursery slopes. The tuition will continue during their first week in the Alps with a further six half day sessions, plus video feedback and off-snow discussion to ensure they make rapid progress. The first week-long learn-to-ski sessions at The Snow Centre will launch in October and will continue throughout the winter. After the winter Inside Out Skiing will offer ongoing coaching opportunities at The Snow Centre to continue their client's development.

Scott Pleva of Inside Out Skiing said "one of our goals in forming the company is to provide the ongoing coaching opportunities for early stage skiers that are normally available only to the more experienced. Our aim is to instill a lifelong passion for skiing in our clients, making use of the training facility on their doorstep to maximise their enjoyment of the mountains."

Feedback from Inside Out Skiing's first clients has been overwhelmingly positive. Terry Blyth, a recent client, said that his coaching session at The Snow Centre was "an eye-opener on how to teach skiing. The passion these guys show for their skiing is incredible, they have a way to uncover your weaknesses and give you the necessary tools and drills to correct and practice".
