It’s snowing in Norway

The snow has arrived in Norway ahead of the skiing season, with six destinations reporting between 20cm to 1cm fresh snow this week. Norway is known for its good quality and quantity of snow, even at low altitudes.

Norway’s ski season typically lasts for six months and skiing down pistes with magnificent fjords and mountains as the perfect backdrop will leave you spellbound.

Many British skiers are surprised at how easy Norway’s family-friendly ski resorts are to reach – it’s just a two-hour flight away and tour operators such as Ski-Norway and Neilson offer great packages from the UK.

Visit Norway will be at The Metro Ski & Snowboard Show on 21-25 October at London Olympia to show keen skiers what the Norwegians have to offer.

Destinations attending the show include Hemsedal, which has been nicknamed ‘the Scandinavian Alps’ for its raw and wild beauty, with some of the most challenging skiing in Northern Europe, and Geilo, a mountain town combining modern facilities and varied skiing with the charm of tradition.

For those looking to book a skiing trip this winter, UK tour operator Ski-Norway will be at hand to help with recommendations and offers, as will Exodus, which offers cross country skiing trips in Norway from the UK.

Norwegian resorts offer great snow, uncrowded pistes, efficient lift systems and queues, and modern ski equipment. Skiing is Norway’s favourite means of appreciating the spectacular and unspoilt mountain landscape - it’s part of our history, culture and tradition.

Get your skis on and visit Norway.
