Top Egyptian resort to host special anniversary celebrations
One of the world’s top Egyptian resorts is set to play host to the country’s most lavish oasis gig in the middle of the Sahara Desert.
Award-winning Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary, an eco-luxury destination set in Egypt’s pristine Dakhla Oasis, will celebrate its one year anniversary with an extraordinary week-long event.
The highlight of the festivities, which will combine excursions, exploration and relaxation, will be a performance of The Desert Queen, a musical featuring international opera singer Corinne Feron and pianist conductor Jean-Luc Tingaud.

Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary Lodge and Spa is a project under Orascom Hotels Holding , a subsidiary of Orascom Hotels and Development.
The resort was built with local, natural materials and aims to contribute to the preservation of the nature, social patterns, traditional industries and distinctive architecture of the Sahara Oases.
It also boasts a farming project called ORGANICA, which has transformed the desert surroundings into a productive resource that provides water and crops for the local communities.
Al Tarfa was awarded best in Egypt by Conde Nast Traveller in July 2009 and was rated one of the World’s Top 100 Hotels and Resorts.
The 1st year anniversary event takes place between 28 October and 5 November 2009, with performances of The Desert Queen taking place on 29 October and 2 November.
Three or four night programmes are available for the special occasion and prices start from EUR €1,875 per person.
The packages include return domestic flights between the desert and Cairo, all inclusive accommodation at Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary Lodge and Spa, limitless use of spa facilities and one free spa treatment, champagne sunset gathering, desert excursions, cultural explorations, guided walks, total relaxation and entrance to the open air musical event.
