TRACKER recovers stolen car in Italy

1st November 2009 Print

Car thieves are opportunists, as Mr Crolla and his wife found out when thieves got hold of their keys and stole their car from a street near their home in Italy. Luckily the car was fitted with a device from LoJack Italy, TRACKER’s Italian counterpart. Using TRACKER’s state-of-the-art technology, Italian police recovered Mr Crolla’s car within 24 hours, stopping the thieves in their tracks.

“Our figures show that 74% of all vehicles recovered by TRACKER are stolen using driver’s keys and this case shows that European thieves use the same scams,” explains Stuart Chapman, TRACKER’s Police Relationships Manager. “Fortunately, Mr Crolla had a TRACKER device fitted, enabling police in Naples to locate and recover his car the very next day. This case highlights just how effective a stolen vehicle recovery system can be in helping police find stolen vehicles and return them to their owners.”

Mr Crolla says, “I am very happy with the service from TRACKER. I can’t believe the car was found so quickly. Before the theft, we were actually considering cancelling TRACKER, as we didn’t know if it would work in Italy. Thank goodness we didn’t, otherwise our car could have been gone for good. I would highly recommend the service to anyone and will always use it from now on.”

TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle. There is no visible aerial, so the thief won’t even know it’s there. Unlike other tracking systems, the device works even if the vehicle is hidden in a garage or shipping container, offering car owners the ultimate in peace of mind should the worst happen.
