New residents cite spectacular views as reason for buying at Hemlingford Mill

The first tranche of buyers at Walton Homes’ historic Hemlingford Mill development have now taken occupation of their apartments, citing the spectacular waterside views as their reason for moving to the newly converted development.

Hemlingford Mill comprises the conversion of an 11th Century former flour mill, together with a sympathetically designed new build element. The luxury development, which looks over Kingsbury Water Park and the River Tame, is situated off Coventry Road at the entrance to the village of Kingsbury.

Prices for the one and two bedroom apartments range from £129,950 to £162,500. All 26 new homes benefit not only from direct pedestrian access to the popular Kingsbury Water Park, but a number of apartments also have spectacular views. The new residents have proclaimed the development as providing picture postcard views in all seasons, even as winter sets in.

The three-storey Hemlingford Mill dates back to the 1086 Doomsday survey – it was originally used to grind flour for the local market. Since then, its biggest claim to fame is that it was given to Lady Godiva as a gift from her husband, after her notorious horseback ride through Coventry.  The mill was then seized by William the Conqueror and it eventually formed part of an arms factory for the Napoleonic and First World Wars.

Helen Rollason, new homes sales coordinator at Walton Homes, said: “Hemlingford Mill occupies a picture perfect setting next to Kingsbury Water Park and the River Tame and there is even a series of interconnecting ponds incorporated within the landscape grounds of the development itself. A number of apartments are available and ready for occupation and there are two showhomes to view – one being in the converted mill and the other in the newly constructed building – illustrating to purchasers the different style of the product on offer.

“There is nothing quite like Hemlingford Mill in the surrounding area and with prices from only £129,950, this presents a very affordable opportunity to buy a luxury new home with the added benefit of amazing scenery from your window. The housing market has corrected itself since 2007 and prices are starting to creep up in the Midlands over the past few months, so this is a perfect time to buy a new home at the best possible price at this unique development.”

Across the landscaped, green development site there are four distinct apartment buildings, each with six apartments, plus two, three bedroom houses. Only two apartments are still available for sale within Berkswell House, the new name for the converted 11th Century former flour mill. These character rich homes offer the potential of being a live/work apartment with one bedroom and a spacious office, or can be used as a two bedroom home.

The Hemlingford Mill show home is open between 11am – 5pm from Thursday to Monday, alternatively, visit waltonhomes.co.uk for further information.
