EV maker THINK named ‘Company to Watch’

THINK, the Norwegian electric vehicle (EV) maker, has been named a ‘company to watch’ at the Cleantech Connect Awards held in London this week.

Hosted by GP Bullhound, one of Europe’s leading investment banks in technology and digital media, the Cleantech Connect Awards aim to bring together Europe’s leaders in the clean and green technology sectors and to encourage continued growth and collaboration within this half-a-trillion-dollar-a-year industry.

THINK, the only automotive company named in the awards, is riding the crest of a wave since the company’s re-capitalisation in August, which saw increased support in the pioneering EV manufacturer from leading Lithium-ion battery maker Ener1, the Norwegian government’s private equity fund, Investinor and Finland’s Valmet Automotive.

The company has also recently made a series of new senior executive appointments to the board of directors and senior management team – bringing a wealth of additional experience and skills from the automotive and cleantech sectors to THINK.  In addition, a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for the THINK City is being established at Valmet Automotive’s headquarters in Uusikaupunki, Finland.

THINK CEO Richard Canny, said: “It was a real honour to be named as ‘one to watch’ at the Cleantech Connect Awards, especially as the only automotive maker on the short-list.  We are delighted to be in such good company – to be named alongside such innovative and forward-thinking winners as ClimateWell, MBA Polymers, Greenroad and Greengrass is a great achievement and an endorsement of our company and its product – the world’s first urban full battery electric vehicle, the THINK City.”

Hugh Campbell, Partner at GP Bullhound, added: “The quality of the entrants to the Cleantech Connect Awards 2009 has been exceptional, and it is great to see these European companies leading the way in this fast-growing arena.”

The Cleantech Connect Awards 2009 was sponsored by Schroders Private Banking (premium sponsors).
