Have a heart for festive fundraising appeal

23rd November 2009 Print

Television actress Lesley Joseph has been wearing her heart on her sleeve to support the launch of the ‘Heart to Heart' annual fundraising appeal in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Heart and circulatory disease is the UK's biggest killer and no-one should face the prospect of losing a loved one before their time.  Each year, around 200,000 people die from the disease and those who survive can find living with heart and circulatory disease difficult, and at times frightening.

The ‘Heart to Heart' Appeal is Yorkshire Building Society's 2009 annual fundraising appeal that will raise money to help fund the BHF's vital work, including its Heart HelpLine.

The Heart HelpLine is a dedicated telephone service run by cardiac nurses and heart health advisers who are trained to deal with a range of medical and lifestyle queries.  Anyone can call to ask about their own heart health problems or those of a loved one- a vital service for people whose lives have been devastated by heart disease.
