Misfuelling – an expensive mistake

Putting petrol in a diesel vehicle costs British motorists over £800million a year in repairs and £100m+ in other expenses.  The cost of repair depends on whether the vehicle has been driven before the mistake is noticed. If it has not been started, the tank usually only needs to be drained. However, fuel pumps in many new vehicles are often primed by the central locking system so even if the driver spots their mistake, it may be too late if he/she has unlocked the doors. If the car has been driven, major repairs may be needed, costs can vary anywhere between £300 to £8,000.  The environmental effect is that more than 7.5 million litres of contaminated fuel are disposed of as a result, incurring more costs to the motorist or fleet manager. 

The Diesel Key replaces the existing filler cap and, once fitted, prevents you from accidentally putting the wrong fuel into a diesel filler neck.  This device is a physical barrier that only the diesel pump will fit into,  The Diesel Key is the only misfuelling device on the market today that offers protection from fuel theft.
