Leading independent tyre wholesaler, Micheldever Tyre and Auto Services has taken delivery of 15 new Renault Master vans through Renault Trucks Midlands. In an important conquest deal for the dealership and for Renault Trucks UK, the vans are the first Renaults to join a 200-strong mixed fleet, the majority of which are currently Mercedes.

Micheldever Tyres is the UK’s largest industrial tyre wholesaler and the Renault Master vans will be used nationwide as wholesale delivery vehicles.

Malcolm Turnbull, Fleet Manager, Micheldever Tyre Services, says: “The Renault Master van offers a greater payload than its competitors which means that our delivery operation is more cost effective, with lower running costs. The price is also very competitive and the service we have received from Renault Trucks Midlands is first class. We currently have a Renault Mascott on a trial basis as we may consider converting more of our fleet to Renault in the future. We are very pleased with the truck’s performance so far.”

Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) was founded in 1972  as a part-time venture providing car servicing and tyres. Today the company is the largest independent wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres in the UK, selling 6 million tyres in 2008/09 – 20% of the total UK market. The company’s annual turnover for 2009/10 is forecast to be over £283 million. In addition to offering MTS car, motorcycle and off-road tyres, MTS also fits exhausts, brakes and shock absorbers. The company has two main business units; its Protyre retail chain has 36 outlets, including Protyre Motorsport and is gaining geographic coverage in the UK through new acquisitions, whilst MTS has also established a wholesale distribution network of 12 sites around the UK, supplying over 4,500 retailers nationwide. This activity has resulted in significant profitable growth for the company. MTS is managed by a team headed up by Paul Fox and Richard Sawney, with backing from Graphite Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland.
