Recession driving car buying online
New car sales surged last month, with a 57.6% increase over November 2008, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) – yet, while national new car sales in January to November 2009 are still down 8.8% on the same period last year, Auto eBid new car sales increased a whopping 99.6%.
“We have seen our sales back to 2007 levels,” said Auto eBid CEO, Amin Saleem. “We expect this growth to continue -- with an increase in VAT and the end of the UK scrappage scheme in 2010, retail consumers will only make the plunge to purchase, if they can get a good deal.”
Auto eBid’s unique ‘reverse auction’ website invites car dealers to bid against each other for each sale, creating the cheapest route to a new car available today.
This simple process puts the consumer back in control, saves awkward haggling in dealer showrooms and delivers greater savings on new cars than any other car-buying option. It’s open to any customer, looking for any UK car model.
Auto eBid best-selling cars for November 2009 were:
1 Land Rover Freelander 2 Diesel
2 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Diesel Estate
3 Ford Focus Hatchback
4 Volvo Xc90 Diesel Estate
5 Volkswagen Golf Diesel Hatchback
6 Nissan Qashqai Diesel Hatchback
