Crafty caravanners make their cake

Practical Caravan in association with Lakeland are pleased to announce the winners of their inaugural caravan cake making competition. The competition was launched in the September issue with a feature on how to make the perfect caravan cake.
“It’s the toughest competition we have had to judge in a long time” said Practical Caravan editor Nigel Donnelly. “Caravanners are real home-lovers – hence they take their ‘home from home’ on holiday with them. They are clearly great home bakers too. The whole team were involved in judging and after a lot of intense discussion we finally settled on a winner. Looking at all the cakes really made us hungry though, so next year we think we need a taste test too”
The first prize went to team Davis, Andrew and Teresa from Chalgrove, Oxfordshire for their white and blue 2005 Bailey Ranger complete with high quality detailing and accessories. Andrew and Teresa were awarded with a £50.00 voucher to spend in their local Lakeland.
Runners-up prizes were awarded to Alison Williams from Hartlepool for her ABI Globetrotter cake and Pete Ayres from Basildon, Essex who entered his 60th birthday cake made by his sister Tina Reed. Both runners-up received Tala icing bag sets from Lakeland – useful for practice for next years competition.
"What a creative group the Practical Caravan readers are! I'm just grateful I didn't have to judge; to me they're all winners." commented Wendy Miranda, Customer Ambassador, Lakeland.
Practical Caravan received over 100 entries.
