David Wilson Homes to extend Stamp Duty holiday in Somerset
The Chancellor has confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to £175,000 will end on 31st December. But David Wilson Homes is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes up to £250,000.
This effectively means that the majority of David Wilson Homes homes in the Somerset area will continue to be exempt from Stamp Duty because David Wilson Homes could pay it on their buyers’ behalf.
“When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not,” said Bernice McKenna, sales director at David Wilson Homes South West.
“So it’s not good news for anyone looking to buy in 2010 that the Government is ending the exemption period on properties worth up to £175,000.
“If you decide to buy a new David Wilson home in the New Year, however, you could still effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £250,000. This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of moving to save themselves thousands of pounds simply by buying from David Wilson Homes.”
David Wilson Homes’ current Somerset developments include The Lydeards at Bishops Lydeard and Wilstock Village at North Petherton.
