New ski property website launched

Leggett Immobilier, the French estate agents, has announced the launch of a new ski property website, skifrenchproperty.com.

With November seeing its "Premier Neige" which simply means the first large dump of snow, it also seems to be signalling the start of a great ski season and bookings for all types of snow related business’s start flooding in and the property market springs back into overdrive as buyers get out of the starting blocks.

Premier Neige also means different things to different people; In Val d’Isere it signals the start of the sporting calendar with the world cup tour coming to the resort on the 11th December featuring the Super G, Slalom and downhill, this also signals the start of the partying season as well!

Of course resorts like Tignes have been open all the while using the glacier for race training and instructor training; and Val Thorens, the highest ski resort in Europe, opened on the 21st November. For the larger and higher resorts the opening times normally vary between the 5th or 12th December and then the lower resorts usually start the week afterwards ready for the Christmas rush.

It’s an incredible time of year, a sense of anticipation falls over the Alps, it’s all quiet now, the builders are doing the final finishing touches and decamping and in a few weeks thousands and thousands of people descend on us, first the hotel and chalet staff, then the resort workers and then the tourists. A sort of madness descends as the pressure and reality of trying to get everything prepared in time sinks in, it’s the same every year and you either love it or you don’t.
