Classic cars made a scenic pit-stop at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort, as part of the Classic Car Carnival in collaboration with Sharjah Classic Car Museum and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Society Development.

The popular east coast resort has been the venue for many sporting activities, including the first Transemirates Classic Rally, held in early 2009.

“The vintage cars were a colorful end to 2009, and strengthened our aims to promote cultural, sporting and social events in the region. We have worked closely with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Society Development to embrace the heritage of the UAE and are grateful for their continued support,” said Patrick Antaki, General Manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah.

The motorcade was displayed at the resort on 30 and 31 December, 2009, before taking off for a driving tour of Fujairah. The event included several traditional performances, including the Al Mazyood Band and the Syrian Dabkah Band.

Dignitaries attending the carnival included Khamis Rashid Al Zyoudi, Events Coordinator at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Society Development, and Ahmed Al Jarwan from Sharjah Classic Car Museum.
